It's goin' down, y'all! The Fall of 2019 won't know what hit it.

"To survive a war, you gotta become war."

– John Rambo

Some say that once you've been to war, it never truly leaves you. Perhaps that's the case for Vietnam War veteran John Rambo, as rumors are now beginning to circulate that Sylvester Stallone is planning to return for a fifth chapter in the RAMBO saga. Now, before you go grabbing your red bandanna and warpaint, it's important that you take the following information with a grain of salt. I say this because, back in January of 2016, Stallone himself announced that he was retiring from playing Rambo, which then led the cancellation of plans for a fifth film. Granted, circumstances may have changed since that time, though I believe its best to err on the side of caution, for now.

According to sources, Avi Lerner’s Millennium is looking to shop the project to potential investors in Cannes with tentative plans to begin shooting in September. It's also being said that Stallone is in the process of writing a script for the project while Lerner is looking to produce. For the moment, nothing has been said about Stallone directing the film, so keep those fingers crossed, people.

For the fifth RAMBO movie, John Rambo returns to action when the daughter of one of his friends is kidnapped, Rambo, who has been working on a ranch, crosses the U.S.-Mexican border and quickly finds himself up against the full might of one of Mexico’s most violent cartels. Interestingly enough, this plotline has been in the cards for a long time, as Stallone mentioned the synopsis to our own Paul Shirey at the EXPENDABLES 3 premiere, years ago.

With all of this being said, I wouldn't go busting out your best Rambo impression just yet. After all, Stallone is a very active participant on a variety of social media platforms, and has yet to announce anything official. Thankfully, that doesn't mean that we can't get a discussion going about the possibility of a fifth RAMBO film.

Are you down to see Stallone return as the hardened John Rambo? Would you like the sneer-lipped actor to direct, or find someone else at the helm? Has the character outstayed his welcome? Sorry, that last one was a trick question. The world could always use a little more John Rambo. Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
