Angel Studios has dropped the final trailer for Runner, an action thriller starring the unlikely duo of Alan Ritchson and Owen Wilson. Check that out above!
All About Runner
Directed by Need for Speed and Expend4bles filmmaker Scott Waugh, Runner follows a former soldier who finds himself caught in a deadly race against time after a critical medical delivery puts him in the crosshairs of a ruthless cartel.
“A former soldier is thrown into a brutal race against time when a critical medical delivery makes him the target of a ruthless cartel. With betrayal closing in from every side, he must survive the chase and deliver his cargo before an innocent child runs out of time.”
The movie looks like an entertaining throwback to old-school action thrillers, complete with slick car chases, explosive set pieces, and Ritchson doing what he does best: absolutely demolishing anyone foolish enough to stand in his way.
In addition to Ritchson and Wilson, Runner stars Rodrigo Santoro, Leila George, Kate Box, Peta Sergeant, Geraldine Hakewill, Cecilia Toussaint, and Scarlett Crabtree.
In a statement, Waugh praised Angel Studios as the perfect home for the film. “Partnering with Angel is a game-changer, because Runner is the kind of theatrical film audiences have been waiting for — big action, real heart, and a story that brings light into this world. When everything’s on the line to save a life, real men don’t run from the fire; they drive straight into it.”
Runner will hit theaters on September 11.
The Year of Ritchson
Ritchson has been very busy. The actor kicked off the year with War Machine, a sci-fi action thriller for Netflix that already has a sequel in the works.
Next up is Motor City, a nearly dialogue-free action flick which will hit theaters on July 24. He will also be starring in The Man with the Bag, a Christmas action comedy which features Arnold Schwarzenegger as Santa Claus. The description reads, “When Santa’s magic bag is stolen, he turns to his naughty list to find Vance, a former thief, to help him get it back.” It will be released on Prime Video on December 2.
Another season of Reacher will also debut on August 12, and Ritchson will be putting in an appearance in Neagley. The spinoff focuses on Frances Neagley (Maria Sten), a friend of Reacher. “Frances Neagley is a private investigator in Chicago. When she learns that a beloved friend from her past has been killed in a suspicious accident, she becomes hell-bent on justice,” reads the description. “Using everything she’s learned from Jack Reacher and her time as a member of the 110 Special Investigators, Neagley puts herself on a dangerous path to uncover a menacing evil.“ The spinoff will drop on September 16.
