Sharlto Copley (District 9, Chappie, Powers) is joining the upcoming season of Netflix's Russian Doll! What a concept!

Copley is the latest big-name star to join the cast after Annie Murphy (Schitt's Creek, Kevin Can F**k Himself) and Carolyn Michelle Smith (ColonyHow to Get Away with Murder). Russian Doll stars Natasha Lyonne as Nadia Vulvokov, a cynical young woman in New York City who keeps dying and returning to the party that's being thrown in her honor on that same evening. As her story continues, Naadia tries to find a way out of this strange time loop.

Created by Lyonne, who executive produces alongside Amy Poehler and Leslye Headland, Russian Doll also found Greta Lee, Yul Vazquez, Elizabeth Ashley, and Charlie Barnett starring in the first season. Filming for Season 2 is currently underway for a targeted summer release. No plot details or information about the new characters has been shared at this time.

Copley made his feature film debut as Wikus Van De Merwe in Neill Blomkamp's District 9 (2009). He then starred as Murdock in Joe Carnahan's The A-Team before starring in films like Europa Report, Elysium, Oldboy, Maleficent, and everyone's favorite sci-fi flick starring South African hip-hop duo Die Antwoord, Chappie. He's known for playing Christian Walker on the superhero police procedural Powers, and can soon be found starring in Dev Patel's Monkey Man film.
