A Night in the Woods Scoot McNairy

Actor Scoot McNairy, who was given that nickname as a toddler because he used to scoot around the floor on his butt, has been cast in one of my most highly anticipated films of next year – writer/director Quentin Tarantino's 1969-set ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD, which has a story that is somehow connected to the Manson Family murders but it's still not clear just to what degree.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt have the lead roles of

Rick Dalton (DiCaprio), former star of a Western TV series, and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Pitt). Both are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don’t recognize anymore. But Rick has a very famous next-door neighbor… Sharon Tate.

McNairy will be playing a character in a Western TV show, a cowboy named Business Bob Gilbert.

He's the latest cast member to be added to quite a large ensemble, which also includes Margot Robbie as actress and Manson Family victim Sharon Tate; Burt Reynolds as George Spahn, the man who owned the ranch the Manson Family lived on; Luke Perry as a character named Scotty Lancer; Clifton Collins Jr. as Ernesto the Mexican Vaquero; Keith Jefferson as Land Pirate Keith; 1970s TV Spider-Man Nicholas Hammond as real life actor/director Sam Wanamaker; Damian Lewis as iconic actor Steve McQueen; Dakota Fanning as Squeaky Fromme, "the Manson disciple who later tried to assassinate President Gerald Ford"; Emile Hirsch as Jay Sebring, a "Hollywood hairstylist who was one of four victims in the Tate murders on Cielo Drive"; Al Pacino as Rick's agent Marvin Schwarz; and Zoe Bell, Kurt Russell, Michael Madsen, Tim Roth, Timothy Olyphant, James Marsden, and Julia Butters in unspecified roles.

I'm thinking Business Bob Gilbert might be associated with Ernesto the Mexican Vaquero and Land Pirate Keith.

McNairy has previously appeared in such films as MONSTERS, ARGO, 12 YEARS A SLAVE, GONE GIRL, AFTERMATH, A NIGHT IN THE WOODS (pictured above), BATMAN V. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, and WONDERLAND, which coincidentally dealt with another infamous L.A. murder case, that one involving porn star John Holmes.

ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD is scheduled for release on August 9, 2019, the 50th anniversary of the Tate murders. Filming is currently underway, with L.A. locations like the Cinerama Dome and a Taco Bell having recently been given 1969 makeovers for the production.
