Scream 6 behind-the-scenes image shows Hayden Panettiere getting into character

For years, fans of the Scream franchise have been hoping to see the return of Hayden Panettiere’s Scream 4 character Kirby Reed… and in Scream 6, which is set in New York City and is currently filming in Montreal, Kirby returns! In a tweet shared through the official Scream Movies Twitter account, Scream 6 cast member Jasmin Savoy Brown shared a behind-the-scenes image of Panettiere sitting in the makeup trailer, getting into character as Kirby:

Scream 6 is being directed by the previous Scream‘s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who are working from a screenplay that was written by the previous movie’s screenwriters, James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. This one will show us what happens when

the four survivors of the Ghostface killings leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter.

Those four survivors are the Scream 2022 characters played by returning stars Melissa Barrera (as Samantha Carpenter), Jasmin Savoy Brown (as Mindy Meeks-Martin), Mason Gooding (as Mindy’s brother Chad Meeks-Martin), and Jenna Ortega (as Sam’s sister Tara Carpenter). Franchise regular Courteney Cox is reprising the role of Gale Weathers. Jack Champion, Liana Liberato, Devyn Nekoda, Josh Segarra, Samara Weaving, Tony Revolori, and Henry Czerny have also been cast in unspecified roles. At this point, we don’t know if Neve Campbell is back at Sidney Prescott or not. She has said she wouldn’t be back, but rumors persist. And, as said and pictured, Panettiere is back as Kirby. According to YouTuber Critical Overlord, it looks like Thomas Cadrot might be in the cast as well.

Vanderbilt is producing Scream 6 with Paul Neinstein and William Sherak for Project X Entertainment. Original Scream screenwriter Kevin Willamson serves as executive producer alongside Chad Villella, Ron Lynch, Cathy Konrad, Marianne Maddalena, and Spyglass’s Gary Barber and Peter Oillataguerre.
