Michael Moore in TrumpLand filmed in secret and given last-minute release

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Whoa, so Michael Moore has apparently just made an entire film in secret. Now he's scrambling to finish the editing and mixing to premiere it tonight at the New York IFC Center, and reportedly has just hired a publicist today to book press screenings this weekend in venues around Los Angeles and New York. I mean, I've done some things last minute, but this seems f*cking ridiculous.

Anyway, the film in question is MICHAEL MOORE IN TRUMPLAND, and is described as "the film Ohio Republicans tried to shut down. Oscar-winner Michael Moore dives right into hostile territory with his daring and hilarious one-man show, deep in the heart of TrumpLand in the weeks before the 2016 election.

I know this might be controversial to say, but I'm a huge fan of Michael Moore. I appreciate that he seems to genuinely care about the issues he's talking about, and his films are both informational and hilarious in equal measure. While – like almost all documentaries – he sometimes uses editing to his advantage, and has used some facts manipulatively, I'd argue it's always utilized simply for embellishment (or comedy) and never to the point where the main conceit of his arguments are debunked. So I'm looking forward to see him take on the ridiculous Trump campaign and his followers.

I can already hear the angry typing from the comments section from a mile away, and I haven't even published this yet. Sigh.

Either way, MICHAEL MOORE IN TRUMPLAND will, again, premiere tonight October 18th, 2016 at the New York IFC Center, then hopefully subsequent press screenings in Los Angeles and New York this weekend October 21st-23rd. It will then be released on VOD and iTunes soon after

So what are your thoughts on Michael Moore? I'm just kidding, you're going to tell me anyway..
