So the first stills from the upcoming BEAUTY AND THE BEAST reimagining BEASTLY hit the net recently and I’ve got to say…. they don’t comfort me at all.
Regardless of the tween cast this flick scored, the fact that it’s based on a young adult novel and that it’s coming from CBS Films… we here at AITH are still holding out hope for BEASTLY! There’s a hint of potential here with the could-be twisted plot and the fact that the great Neil Patrick Harris is in the film… or NPH as I like to call him. But these first stills and widget of the ‘beastly’ transformation don’t exactly have me looking forward to this one. Above and below you’ll find the first stills of star Alex Pettyfer’s transformation, before and after the fact. Then below you’ll also find a nifty widget that visually shows you the transformation to the best of it’s ability…. and none of it seems interesting.
Maybe it’s just me or maybe I was hoping for something a bit more… beastly… but that ‘transformation’ isn’t much. I am digging the dark feel of that bottom still though… so maybe there’s hope? BEASTLY deals with a New York teen who turns into a ‘beast’ after he wrongs a witch and then has to find true love to reverse the spell. Daniel Barnz both wrote and is directing the film based on the novel by Alex Flinn. That tween casting I mentioned includes Vanessa Hudgens as the ‘true love’ and Mary-Kate Olsen (below) as ‘the witch.’ BEASTLY already has a release date of July 30, 2010. A mid-Summer date… really? So what’s the verdict? Give up on BEASTLY now or hold out a little hope?
