Showtime's upcoming series "Penny Dreadful"—created, written and executive produced by John Logann, Sam Mendes and Pippa Harris—continues to remind us why this is one of the most exciting shows to be hitting the small screen this year. Other than FX's upcoming adaptation of Guillermo del Toro's "The Strain", I don't think there's another series coming out this year that I'm more excited about. On tap for you folks today is the third production blog from the set of "Penny Dreadful", this time focusing on how it all came together. Check out the video below and get a sneak peek into the pre-production process with members of the "Penny Dreadful" team.

The series will debut on Sunday, May 11th at 10pm. Two out of the eight episodes will be directed by THE ORPHANAGE's J.A. Bayona.

The series draws from famous works of literature, posing that some of the most terrifying protagonists — Dr. Frankenstein and his creature, Dorian Gray, Dracula’s Van Helsing and more — come together in Victorian London.

"Penny Dreadful" stars Josh Hartnett, Eva Green, Timothy Dalton, Reeve Carney, Rory Kinnear, Hearry Treadaway, Billie Piper and Danny Sapani.
