A couple weeks back, we shared a picture that was taken at a licensing expo in London of a poster for director Shane Black's upcoming "inventive sequel" to PREDATOR, THE PREDATOR. Evoking a moment in which one of the human-hunting aliens we know as Predators (or Yautja if you're into the expanded universe materials) was struck by lightning in the Los Angeles-set PREDATOR 2, this poster showed the image of a Predator appearing in lightning over what appeared to be a cityscape.

Since then, something a step up from a picture of a poster has arrived online. You can see that Predator-shaped lightning form right before your eyes in the motion poster below.

Details on the plot of THE PREDATOR, which Black wrote with his THE MONSTER SQUAD collaborator Fred Dekker, are being kept under wraps for now, but it has been described as "unexpected and utterly fresh".

It’s set in suburbia. There’s a little boy and his dad at the center of the action."

That little boy and his dad are played by Jacob Tremblay and Boyd Holbrook, respectively. In the cast with them are Yvonne Strahovski, Olivia Munn, Keegan-Michael Key, Sterling K. Brown, Trevante Rhodes, Thomas Jane, Augusto Aguilera, Alfie Allen, Jake Busey, and Edward James Olmos.

THE PREDATOR is set to reach theatres on August 3, 2018, a date that is feeling pretty distant right now.
