Sick image offers the first look at John Hyams, Kevin Williamson slasher

Last year, we heard that director John Hyams (Alone) was teaming up with Scream screenwriter Kevin Williamson to bring us an untitled pandemic thriller. That thriller now has a title, it’s called Sick, and earlier today we learned that it’s going to have its world premiere as part of the Midnight Madness line-up at the Toronto International Film Festival next month. Now the first image from Sick has arrived online, and you can check it out at the bottom of this article.

Scripted by Katelyn Crabb (who was credited as Williamson’s assistant on Scream 2022) from a story by Williamson, Sick takes place

when the country locks down due to the pandemic and college student Parker and her best friend decide to quarantine at the family lake house alone – or so they think.

The film stars Gideon Adlon (The Craft: Legacy), Dylan Sprayberry (Teen Wolf), Jane Adams (She Dies Tomorrow), Marc Menchaca (Ozark), Charla Bocchicchio (Stalker), Bethlehem Million (And Just Like That…), Duane Stephens (Evil Angel), Jihae Song (Prescription for Love), Logan Murphy (Chicago Med), Alireza Mirmontazeri (Avocado Toast), Aarman Touré (The Housewives of the North Pole), and newcomer Kimberlee Kraczek.

Williamson produced Sick with Bill Block and Ben Fast. Andrew Golov executive produced alongside line producer Michael J. Zampino.

I’m always interested in seeing more genre projects from Williamson, and I was really impressed by Hyams’ work on the thriller Alone, so I look forward to watching Sick when it’s released. How does this project sound to you? Share your thoughts on this one by leaving a comment below.

Hyams’ other directing credits include Universal Soldier: Regeneration, Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning, and episodes of Z Nation, Black Summer, The Originals, and Legacies. He has been attached to direct a remake of Maniac Cop for a long time, but it’s looking like that might never make it into production.
