What did you think of SILENT HILL? Some loved it, others hated it. It’s a very split feeling among the horror fans. Love it or hate it, a sequel has been in the works for a while.
SILENT HILL 2 has been rumored since the first one hit theaters, and we’ve got some news on that and more for you today. Bloody Disgusting is reporting that not only will there be a SILENT HILL 2, but there will be a SILENT HILL 3 as well.
They recently spoke to the man who wrote the first SILENT HILL, Roger Avary about the potential sequel. Avary told them that unless director Christophe Gans returns, he won’t be scripting any more SILENT HILLs. And according to Avary, Gans returning is highly unlikely.
Avary did mention that Sony is already planning on turning SILENT HILL into a trilogy.
Now how do you take this news? I’m for it, why not. I enjoyed the first one, a real twisted flick with a weird ending that leaves room for more. Now I haven’t played the first game in years (nor any of the others at all), so I don’t remember anything from it, meaning I have no idea how close they stood to the actual story with the movie. The SILENT HILL video game has spawned 4 sequels, the 5th one is due out this January. So there’s plenty of story to make some more movies.
Now there hasn’t been that stand out video-game to film adaptation yet (although STREET FIGHTER came close… I’m kidding.). Some (including myself) are looking at HITMAN as being the first big gem, some maybe feel SILENT HILL was. Is a SILENT HILL trilogy the best idea?
