After debuting their Super Bowl BIG GAME spot for The Lost City, Paramount Pictures is also using the big event to debut a new look at Sonic The Hedgehog 2, a follow-up they’re hoping will replicate the immense success of its predecessor.

Perhaps it’s the kid in me, but it’s really getting fun to see Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles being featured in these trailers and TV Spots and this new Super Bowl ad only ups my excitement. I actually really enjoyed the first film as it was a surprisingly solid video game adaptation and it looks like the sequel won’t be weighed down by bloated expectations. It looks like all involved here are just ready to have some fun.

Per the film’s official synopsis, “The world’s favorite blue hedgehog is back for a next-level adventure in SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2. After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is eager to prove he has what it takes to be a true hero. His test comes when Dr. Robotnik returns, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search for an emerald that has the power to destroy civilizations. Sonic teams up with his own sidekick, Tails, and together they embark on a globe-trotting journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands. From the filmmakers behind The Fast and the Furious and Deadpool, SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2 stars James Marsden, Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Adam Pally, Lee Majdoub and Jim Carrey returning, alongside new additions Shemar Moore, with Idris Elba as the voice of Knuckles and Colleen O’Shaughnessey as the voice of Tails.”

Did YOU like the Sonic The Hedgehog 2 Super Bowl spot? The video game sequel hits screens on April 8, 2022.
