Sony wants Mary Jane Watson to appear in The Amazing Spider-man 2

It took Sam Raimi three movies before he brought in the love triangle of Peter Parker, Mary Jane Watson, and Gwen Stacy. Director Marc Webb is not holding back and will bring in the dueling love interests for Peter Parker in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2.

Variety is reporting that Sony already has an actress in mind for the redhead bombshell: THE DESCENDANTS’ Shailene Woodley. Casting is also underway for Harry Osborn, previously played by James Franco, as well as the villain who is rumored to be Electro.

The mysterious post-credits sequence with Curt Connors and the shadowy man asking all the questions led many to wonder if that was Norman Osborn or someone else. We may get to find out in the upcoming sequel.

Woodley is a cute girl and looks like a high schooler which would play into the teenage reboot universe of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN. Not sure how I feel about Emma Stone’s Gwen being that much closer to her impending doom, but I can’t argue with the casting. Woodley doesn’t quite have the buxom cartoonish nature we often see Mary Jane drawn with these days, but she does fit the girl next door mentality that she was originally created with in mind.

What do you think of Mary Jane, Harry Osborn, and Electro gracing THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2?
