I visited a spa in April for a couple’s massage, and let me tell you, it was heaven! They dressed us in soft, comfy robes, served delicious mint iced tea, and went ham on my lower back like their life depended on it. I need to go back in the worst way. Then again, I may need more than just an hour-long massage. A weekend is in order. That way, my wife and I can really live it up. Damn you, Spa Weekend trailer, you’re about to cost me a ton of money that I don’t have. Oh well!
What’s Spa Weekend about?
Today, Black Bear debuted a trailer for its upcoming Spa Weekend comedy, starring Leslie Mann, Isla Fisher, Anna Faris, and Michelle Buteau. Akin to films like Bad Moms and The Hangover, Spa Weekend is a hilarious and heartfelt comedy about four lifelong friends who realize that somewhere between careers, relationships, families, and everyday responsibilities, they have forgotten how to take care of themselves and each other. Burned out and overdue for a break, the women escape to a luxury spa retreat for what turns out to be an unforgettable weekend dedicated to fun, laughter, and a lot of really bad decisions.
We could all use some time away from it all
Jon Lucas and Scott Moore direct Spa Weekend from their own script, with Suzanne Todd, John Friedberg, Teddy Schwartzman, and Michael Heimler producing. With a runtime of 97 minutes, Spa Weekend sounds like a quick-and-dirty comedy about bonding, attempts at relaxation, and shedding the responsibilities of your work and home life. While I don’t have kids, I could certainly use some quality time off. I work seven days a week. I’ve had three days off since November (not counting holidays). I’m burning out. Actually, if anyone from Black Bear reads this, can I cameo in the Spa Weekend sequel? I could chill in the background, some cucumber slices on my eyes, and my feet in a massaging pool. Then again, I’m game for a massage therapist to try that hand massage on me. What do you say?
