The team-up of action legends we’ve been waiting a long time for has arrived in the form of ESCAPE PLAN (formerly THE TOMB), starring Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The first trailer for the sci-fi thriller has just broke out of its confines and onto the web – and yes, it looks like a damn good time!

The film, directed by Mikael Håfström, seems to take some cues from a few different sources: FORTRESS, ESCAPE FROM ALCATRAZ, FACE/OFF, TANGO AND CASH, DEATH RACE, you name it. (At least, those are a few of the titles that occurred to me; I’m sure others occurred to you.) Not that I’m complaining, mind you; it’s a flick like this that brings a real smile to my face, thanks to its unapologetic old-school ways.

The film also features a very solid supporting cast, including Jim Caviezel, Amy Ryan, Vincent D’Onofrio, Vinnie Jones and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.

Here’s the plot:

One of the world’s foremost authorities on structural security agrees to take on one last job: breaking out of an ultra-secret, high-tech facility called “The Tomb.” Deceived and wrongly imprisoned, Ray Breslin (Sylvester Stallone) must recruit fellow inmate Emil Rottmayer (Arnold Schwarzenegger) to help devise a daring, nearly impossible plan to escape from the most protected and fortified prison ever built.

ESCAPE PLAN opens on October 18th from Summit Entertainment. Check out the trailer and let us know what you think!
