Stan Lee would love to see Silver Surfer traverse the cosmos of the MCU

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Greetings, true believers! Recently, while speaking with SYFY WIRE, storied co-creator of the Marvel Universe, Stan Lee, revealed which character he'd most like to see receive their own film as a part of the MCU. For those who are familiar with Lee's contributions to the legendary comic book publisher, his reply should come as no surprise. After all, I think it's only natural that the co-creator of the Fantastic Four would want to see the Silver Surfer done some true justice on the big screen.

When asked why he would choose Norrin Radd a.k.a. Silver Surfer for his ideal Marvel film, Lee replied by saying, “He’s the one I want to see more. He’s the most philosophical of all the characters I’ve ever worked on. And I have an idea for my cameo in that one!”

During that same interview, Lee also waxed rhapsodic about his favorite MCU cameo to-date. It turns out the Thor co-creator really enjoyed his appearance in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON. Here's what he had to say about that, “Oh yeah, my favorite is when I’m drinking with Thor in the second Avengers movie,” Lee said. “When I was with him at the bar and he was drinking a strong drink from Asgard. And I told him, ‘Hey, let me have a sip. And he says, 'No, it’s too strong for you.' I’m like, 'C’mon!' So I take a sip, and the next scene, they’re carrying me out. The reason that one is my favorite of the ones I’ve done is that it’s the one cameo I’ve done that has two scenes. I figure that’s making me more of an actor. Pretty soon I’ll have three scenes then I’ll have four, and before you know it, I’ll be starring in a movie.”

Personally, I would give anything to have SILVER SURFER announced as a planned film for the MCU. If they were to make it, we might actually get a proper Galactus on the big screen. After all, Marvel wouldn't have to look any farther than the current comic book run of the character from creators Dan Slott, Micheal and Laura Allred for great film ideas. The comic frames Norrid Radd as a Doctor Who-like character who uses the power cosmic to travel across time and space. Along for the adventure is his companion and friend, Dawn Greenwood. Together, the pair solve the mysterious of the Marvel universe while exploring the unkown. If that doesn't sound like a recipe for Marvel cinematic success I don't know what does.

With any hope, Stan will one day get his wish of seeing Norrin surf through the MCU on Toomie, his trusty board. Excelsior!
