Star Trek 2 set video highlights Zachary Quinto vs. Benedict Cumberbatch

Apparently, someone shot some video to go along with the still images we saw last week of stars Zachary Quinto as Spock and Benedict Cumberbatch as the unnamed villain of J.J. Abrams’ STAR TREK 2.

If anything, the video confirms that there is some serious conflict between the two and we can expect some cool mano y mano fights as a result. I’m giving you ample warning now; this is a video meant to be watched without the audio as the voice over is like America’s Funniest Home Videos and says things like “I’m pooped.”

Take a gander:

I think the cool thing about videos like this (minus the narration) are that we get a sampling of what’s going on and it gives us a peek into the process. Seeing where it all started and how the actors were choreographed gives me a deeper appreciation for how movies like STAR TREK 2 are created.  Nowhere near as complex as a making-of feature, but interesting enough.

Seems like Abrams might be amping up the action for the sequel, which is fine by me (not that the first was necessarily lacking). Details are sparse on the sequel, but you could always check out the monthly comic by IDW that leads directly into it if you were so inclined.

STAR TREK 2 beams into theaters on May 17, 2013.
