We haven't heard anything from Idris Elba since it was confirmed that he'll playing the villain in Justin Lin's STAR TREK BEYOND, but he briefly talked about the project during a recent interview with the British newspaper Metro. Elba didn't reveal any character or story details, but he did say that he's familiar with the franchise, and has seen a bunch of Star Trek episodes.

Almost everyone was a Trekkie, really, weren't they? I wouldn't say I was a hardcore one but I definitely watched that show a million times.

Elba went on to say he'll be sharing a few scenes with his favorite Star Trek character.

Spock was probably my favourite character – and in this one I have some scenes with Zachary Quinto.

Although STAR TREK BEYOND plot details have been kept under wraps, with production underway, we will likely be getting more info on the film in the upcoming months. It's been rumored that Idris Elba has been cast as a villain Klingon, but we all know how rumors can be. What would you like to see in the threequel?

STAR TREK BEYOND will beam into theaters on July 8, 2016.
