THIRTEEN GHOSTS writer Neal Marshall Stevens is determined to have his work seen. As he says in an article in Variety, only “one in ten” of the screenplays he has written have actually gotten made; so now Stevens is turning to comic books, which will definitely find an audience. The scribe is partering with “Studio 407” on two books: HAVOC BRIGADE and DEMON SQUAD, with an eye toward eventually adapting them into feature films…
Stevens actually has a decent amount of credits to his name, including the upcoming sequel to THE AMITYVILLE HORROR, HELLRAISER: DEADER and RETRO PUPPETMASTER (hey, I didn’t say the credits themselves were decent). His latest effort, the killer car flick HYBRID, was produced by Studio 407, and will land on DVD later this year.
Here is what HAVOC BRIGADE – which hits stores in March – is about: In the near future, armed with Havoc-class battlesuits made of an indestructible material, the Havoc Brigade brings peace to a war-ravaged Europe, ending a decades-long conflict. But the Brigade’s team leader, Major Jackson, goes rogue when he learns that the government is shutting down the program. Stealing the Army’s ultimate weapon, he succeeds in killing all his men and destroying all the other battlesuits except one. Now it’s up to the only surviving member of the Havoc Brigade to bring the renegade Major to justice, but does Sergeant Barnes have what it takes to go toe-to-toe with his former commander and mentor, and stop him before it’s too late?
DEMON SQUAD tells the story of a team of scientists, mystics, and mercenaries who band together to hunt down demons that prey on teenagers.
Both sound like fun – and potentially great flicks. We’ll keep you in the loop if there’s any movement on that end. For now, enjoy this lovely picture that has little to do with this story…
