Last year, Summer H. Howell of Curse of Chucky and Cult of Chucky spent four months playing Carrie in Mike Flanagan’s upcoming eight-episode Prime Video series adaptation of the popular Stephen King novel. That show is expected to premiere in October – and while we wait for that to come around, Howell has been busy at work on Sundown, a vampire movie executive produced by rock musician and genre aficionado Slash.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sundown was filmed in Winnipeg and just wrapped production this week.
Directed by Rebekah McKendry from a script written by Joshua Hull and David Ian McKendry, the film is said to focus on three generations of women who reunite in a remote cabin to avenge a loved one’s death, only to discover their captive isn’t who he seems to be, and his family is closing in, waiting for sundown. That sounds to me like a promising set-up for bloodshed.
Howell is joined in the cast by Olwen Fouéré (Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and Camille Sullivan (Shelby Oaks).
Slash is executive producing the film through his BerserkerGang label, while the producer line-up consists of Pasha Patriki, Michael Paszt, Andrew Thomas Hunt, James Fler, and Juliette Hagopian.
McKendry
Rebekah McKendry previously worked as the Director of Marketing at Fangoria Entertainment and the Editor-in-Chief of Blumhouse.com. She was a host on the Geeknation podcast Killer POV and the Blumhouse podcast Shock Waves. She earned a PhD in Media Arts, as well as Masters degrees in both Film Studies and Education, and happens to be a professor at USC School of Cinematic Arts.
She made her feature directorial debut with the 2018 Christmas horror comedy anthology All the Creatures Were Stirring, which she co-directed with her husband, David Ian McKendry. Since then, she has directed the thriller Psycho Granny and the supernatural horror films Glorious and Elevator Game.
