Swamp Thing adds Henderson Wade as Matt Cable

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

It was just yesterday that we let you guys know that the adult version of Stanley Uris in the recently wrapped IT: CHAPTER TWO, actor Andy Bean has now signed on to play the man who becomes Swamp Thing in the upcoming DC Universe series, with the title character played by Derek Mears.

And today we have word via Deadline that Riverdale actor Henderson Wade has joined the cast as Matt Cable. The role is a series regular and described as "a Louisiana lawman who finds himself in dire straits when supernatural evil threatens the town he’s sworn to protect."

Based on the DC Comics character created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson, Swamp Thing is set to star Crystal Reed as Abby Arcane, who

investigates what seems to be a deadly swamp-born virus in a small town in Louisiana but soon discovers that the swamp holds mystical and terrifying secrets. When unexplainable and chilling horrors emerge from the murky marsh, no one is safe.

This new supernatural horror series will reframe the Matt Cable character, who was introduced in the first issue of Swamp Thing as a federal agent assigned to protect Alec Holland. Cable fails and blames the "mysterious bog monster" for Holland’s death. Cable also has ties to the series' lead Abby, as she was Cable's childhood crush. Also in the cast are Maria Sten, Jeryl Prescott, Jennifer Beals, Virginia Madsen, and Will Patton

James Wan, Mark Verheiden, Gary Dauberman, Michael Clear, and Len Wiseman executive produce the new series. Rob Hackett is co-producer. Len Wiseman will direct the first episode off of a script by Verheiden and Dauberman. What do you think of this casting? Let us know below!
