Syfy channel developing The Adjustment Bureau TV series

I have not yet seen THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU, despite the very positive reviews it raked in upon its release earlier this year. (Our man The Arrow dug it.) The George Nolfi-directed sci-fi mindbender – which was inspired by a Philip K. Dick short story – had a fairly decent showing at the box office, acquiring around $127 million worldwide; apparently production company Media Rights Capital (MRC) feels there’s still life left in the title, because they’re about to produce a television show with the Syfy channel based on the concept.

Former “Smallville” executive producers Darren Swimmer and Todd Slavkin are writing the TV adaptation of THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU, while Nolfi will executive produce. It’s unclear what the concept will be for the series, exactly, but here’s what the feature film was about:

On the brink of winning a U.S. Senate seat, charismatic politician David Norris (Matt Damon) meets Elise Sellas (Emily Blunt), a woman unlike any he’s ever known. As he realizes he’s falling madly in love with the beautiful, contemporary ballet dancer, strangers conspire to keep the two apart. David learns he is up against the men of the Adjustment Bureau, who will do everything in their considerable power to prevent the pair from spending the rest of their lives together. In the face of overwhelming odds, he must decide whether to accept his predetermined path and let her go…or defy Fate and risk everything to be with the woman he loves.

No word on when the series will go into production.
