Synapse Films have set a March 8th release date for their THE DORM THAT DRIPPED BLOOD Blu-ray/DVD combo. Previously only available in a cut version under the title PRANKS, the 1982 slasher is currently being authored for its director’s cut debut.
The anamorphic widescreen, unrated version will feature never-before-scene footage. “We put back as much as we possibly could, including additional sequences of both gore and dialogue, and restored the film to most complete version possible,” says Synapse’s Don May Jr. Special features will be as follows:
– Audio commentary with directors Jeffrey Obrow and Stephen Carpenter
– Featurette on composer Christopher Young
– Featurette on makeup FX artist Matthew Mungle
– Theatrical trailer
The film was one of many to be included on the “video nasty” list. Laura Lapinski, Stephen Sachs, David Snow, and Pamela Holland star as college students who are clearing out a dormitory when an unknown assailant begins killing people with various industrial tools.
Synapse will release Alex Pucci’s 2008 slasher, FRAT HOUSE MASACRE, in 2011 as well. Additional details on that release, along with the cover art for DORM, are expected soon.
