Taika Waititi talks fun and spectacle in new Thor: Ragnarok featurette

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

With just slightly over a month to go, the release of THOR: RAGNAROK is sneaking up on us rather rapidly, and I've got my fingers crossed that the film will be able to do what THOR and THOR: THE DARK WORLD could not, which is blow me away. I'm a huge fan of Chris Hemsworth as Thor, as well as the rest of the cast, but Thor's standalone movies just haven't done it for me. Thankfully, THOR: RAGNAROK, directed by Taika Waititi, looks like it could give me the wonderfully cosmic Thor adventure I've always craved.

In a new featurette, Taika Waititi, along with Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo, discusses his approach to the film, which included injecting some fun into the character. "The way that I’ve approached this is to rebuild it in a new way," Waititi said. "I want to take people on a ride and inject some comedy into it, an adventure that keeps people laughing along the way, but also has the spectacle and stuff that gets people excited."

The official synopsis for THOR: RAGNAROK:

In Marvel Studios’ ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok—the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization—at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger—the Incredible Hulk!

THOR: RAGNAROK will hit theaters on November 3, 2017.
