Terry O’Quinn is not up for Lex Luthor, plus details on the villain’s role in Batman vs Superman and more!

Oh look, another BATMAN VS SUPERMAN rumor! Sigh. As it has been for most BATMAN VS SUPERMAN news recently, take this following information with a grain (or mountain) of salt.

A couple of days ago a site claimed Terry O'Quinn was on a shortlist for Lex Luthor in BATMAN VS SUPERMAN. Now CBM has learned from a source that O'Quinn was never up for the part. The source says James Purefoy (JOHN CARTER, Fox's The Following) was approached for the role, but he wasn't interested.

CBM's source has also told them about Lex Luthor's role in the film:

Zack Snyder's Lex Luthor isn't gonna be focusing on real estate, like he has in past Superman films. This time, Lex's motivations will be rooted on his belief that Superman is not good for mankind. The Lex that you will see, will resemble characteristics from Grant Morrison's All-Star Superman.

The site's source further describes Lex Luthor as "the pride of Metropolis. The people love him, he's been helping out a lot. Even Lois thinks he's a good guy initially. He is a very smart man and has a lot of charisma." Lex Luthor will also apparently play with "fringe science" in Zack Snyder's film, according to the source. I have no way of knowing if the scene CBM describes in this next part actually appears in BATMAN VS SUPERMAN, but just in case it does, here's a spoiler warning for all of you.

In one particular scene, Lex will ask his LexCorp scientists if they can recreate Kryptonian armor. Lex says to them, "When the world realizes what he truly is, they will need someone to stand up to him." When one of scientists ask if he is that someone, Lex replies, "Is there any other person who can?"

If Luthor is working on replicating Kryptonian armor, could it be for the green mech suit he has worn in the comics for battling Superman? Fingers crossed.

The source goes on to say Wonder Woman and The Flash will both appear in BATMAN VS SUPERMAN, but it will be as Diana and Barry Allen, and neither of them will be wearing their costumes in the film. CW is working on a Flash series that's a spinoff from Arrow, and according to CBM's source, Warner Bros. wants Grant Gustin to cameo in BATMAN VS SUPERMAN, but they want to see how fans react to him as the character first. If fans don't care for Gustin as Barry Allen, the source says Warner Bros. will find someone else for the cameo.

One last rumor for you on BATMAN VS SUPERMAN. Bruce Wayne will have a love interest in the film, and Ben Affleck will apparently be reading with several actresses this week for the part. CBM's source says Warner Bros. is looking for an African-American actress for the part, and the character won't be just another one night stand for Bruce Wayne. In fact, the source says she will know all about his secret identity in the upcoming film.

Interesting stuff, but like I said, these are rumors, so don't get too excited (or disappointed) with this news.

BATMAN VS SUPERMAN is scheduled to be released on July 17th, 2015.
