The 24th Annual Golden Schmoes Are Coming!

Chris

Well folks, it’s time once again for The Golden Schmoes!

Now celebrating its 24th anniversary, the Schmoes are JoBlo.com’s official fan-voted movie awards—and they also happen to be one of the longest-running online, fan-driven movie awards around. If you’re new to the site and don’t know what The Golden Schmoes are all about, you can read the full breakdown right HERE (on our newly redesigned website).

With these awards, we like to do one thing above all else: put the power in YOUR hands.

That means you choose the nominees, and then you choose the winners—for what we consider the Best Movies of the Year. If you’ve ever felt like the Academy (or any of the big awards shows) is even slightly out of touch, this is your chance to make your voice count.

Do you agree with Sinners leading the awards conversation?
Was Weapons snubbed?
Why wasn’t Hans Zimmer nominated for his score to F1?
Want Michael B. Jordan to take home gold over the frontrunner Timothée Chalamet (or vice versa)?

That’s exactly why The Golden Schmoes exist: to let fans decide, because after all… you’re the ones paying to see these movies in theaters.

All you need is a valid email address. Once voting opens, you’ll be able to pick the nominees and the winners on the official site.

Where to Vote (and What to Read First)

We’ll have a full article on nomination day that gets into the nitty-gritty and breaks down the specific categories, but in the meantime:

Why The Golden Schmoes Matter

We’re super proud of these awards—and we’re genuinely dying to find out what you all think were the year’s best movies.

Sometimes it feels like the Academy, the critics, and even the guilds are in their own bubble. The Golden Schmoes are our way of keeping it simple:

What did people actually watch? What did fans actually love?

So if you’ve got a film you’re rooting for, sound off in the comments and make sure you vote when the polls open.

Let the deliberations begin.
