What if I told you there was an alternate version of THE KARATE KID? Well, it’s an alternate version in the way that it’s basically all rehearsal footage. In 1983, director John G. Avildsen shot the rehearsal in its entirety then edited all that footage together for the cast. It served as an extra bit of help so the actors could see the process as well as the set up.

Of course there are scenes that you will see that did not make it to the final cut of the film. Avildsen provides a little description on those parts and on others. This was added over a year ago but it seems that not very many fans knew of its existence. It’s dated but a really cool find.

To check it out the whole thing, head over to Avildsen’s YouTube channel.
