The Boys are getting animated with a new series. Announced at Brazil Comic-Con, Prime Video revealed The Boys: Diabolical, a new eight-episode animated anthology series set in the universe of The Boys. The Boys animated anthology series, set to premiere in 2022, will focus on untold stories hailing from the rough and tumble world created by Eric Kripke, Evan Goldberg, and Seth Rogen.

Writing the new stories are some of Hollywood’s heaviest hitters such as Awkwafina, Garth Ennis, Eliot Glazer, Ilana Glazer, Evan Goldberg, Seth Rogen, Simon Racioppa, Justin Roiland, Ben Bayouth, Andy Samberg, and Aisha Tyler.

“We’re almost finished with eight episodes of our animated series, Diabolical. We gathered together some incredible creators and we gave them one rule…just kidding, there’s no rules. They blew the doors off it,” The Boys executive producer/showrunner Eric Kripke said.

This is the second The Boys spinoff ordered by Amazon Prime Video after a YA superhero college series was given the green light in September. The Boys spinoff series will be set at America’s only college for young-adult superheroes, which happens to be run by Vought International, and has been described as “an irreverent, R-rated series that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities. Part college show, part Hunger Games — with all the heart, satire, and raunch of The Boys.” Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, who previously ran Agent Carter, have boarded the spinoff series as showrunners, taking over from Craig Rosenberg, who departed following creative differences. In a statement, The Boys creator Eric Kripke said:

“Much like Mork & Mindy spun-off from Happy Days — which is an insane and true fact — our spinoff will exist in the Vought Cinematic Universe, yet have a tone and style all its own. It’s our take on a college show, with an ensemble of fascinating, complicated, and sometimes deadly Young Supes. Michele and Tara are stone-cold geniuses, we’re thrilled to have them steer this ship and grateful to Sony and Amazon for the opportunity. We love this show and can’t wait for you to see it. Also, Baywatch Nights spun off from Baywatch, and it had vampires. Vampires!”

The Boys spinoff series is set to star Jaz Sinclair (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Lizze Broadway (Here and Now), Shane Paul McGhie (Unbelievable), Aimee Carrero (Elena of Avalor), Reina Hardesty (Brockmire), and Maddie Phillips (Teenage Bounty Hunters) as the young heroes, with more casting expected to be revealed later.
