The MacGyver reboot that starred Lucas Till came to an end in 2021 after a five season, 94 episode run – and now Till is moving on from his MacGyver with the action thriller The Collective, which will be receiving a theatrical, digital, and VOD release (courtesy of Quiver Distribution) on August 4th. With that release date just over a month away, a trailer for The Collective has arrived online and can be seen in the embed above.

Tom DeNucci (Johnny & Clyde) directed The Collective from a screenplay by Jason James and Matthew Rogers. This film marks the first writing credit for James, but Rogers has previously written the action thrillers The Survivalist and Code Name Banshee. The Collective has the following synopsis: A group of righteous assassins called The Collective take aim at a highly sophisticated human trafficking ring backed by a network of untouchable billionaires. With their backs against the wall, The Collective has no choice but to put their most important mission in the hands of rookie assassin Sam Alexander.

DeNucci built a cool supporting cast around Till that includes Ruby Rose (John Wick: Chapter 2); professional wrestler Mercedes Varnado (The Mandalorian), who is also known as Sasha Banks and Mercedes Monè; Paul Ben-Victor (The Irishman); Tyrese Gibson of Morbius and the Fast and Furious franchise; and the legendary Don Johnson, who has been awesome in everything from Miami Vice and Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man to Knives Out.

Jordan Beckerman, Jordan Yale Levine, and Richard Switzer produced The Collective, with Kaitlin Hlywa and Michael J. Rothstein co-producing. Executive producers include Jason Cherubini, Nicholas Donnermeyer, Larry Greenberg, Jason Kringstein, Scott Levenson, Alan Liebowitz, Tara J. Martin, Berry Meyerowitz, David Nazar, Ian Niles, Gregory Ruden, Jeff Sackman, Shaun Sanghani, Sabine Stener, and Jeffrey Tussi.

The Collective looks like a good time to me, and Quiver Distribution has let it be known that the movie has a running time of 86 minutes, so this one will deliver some action and thrills without taking up too much of your day.
