Toward the end of last year, it was announced that The Conjuring 4 is in the works at New Line Cinema, with James Wan and Peter Safran producing and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, who previously worked on the scripts for The Conjuring 2 and The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, writing the screenplay. Wan has previously hinted that The Conjuring 4 could turn out to be the last film in the franchise… and if it is, it has a fitting title for a final installment. While at CinemaCon, the official convention of the National Association of Theatre Owners, Warner Bros. revealed that the next movie is titled The Conjuring: Last Rites.

Nothing is known about the plot at this time, and the movie also doesn’t have a director attached to it at the moment.

The title reveal for The Conjuring: Last Rites isn’t the only bit of promotion Warner Bros. did for their Conjuring Universe at CinemaCon. They also showed off a clip from and a trailer for The Nun 2, and you can read a description of that footage at THIS LINK. The Nun 2 was directed by Michael Chaves (The Curse of La LloronaThe Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It) from a screenplay by Akela Cooper (Malignant). The writing duo of Ian Goldberg and Richard Naing (The Autopsy of Jane Doe) also contributed to the script. That film is set to reach theatres on September 8th.

It was also recently announced that a Conjuring TV series is in the works at the Max streaming service (which was formerly known as HBO Max).

What do you think of the title The Conjuring: Last Rites, and what do you think of the possibility that this could be the last Conjuring movie? Do you think four is enough, or would you like to see Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga continue playing paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren for more movies beyond this one? Let us know by leaving a comment below.

I think The Conjuring: Last Rites is a fine title, but I hope this won’t be the last movie with Wilson and Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine. I wouldn’t care if the rest of the Conjuring Universe shuts down, just as long as I get to watch more of Wilson’s Ed and Farmiga’s Lorraine.
