The Cron dishes horror

David Cronenberg is one of the finest filmmakers EVER. Yup, I said it – EVER! No joke, the guy makes fine features with every effort he’s done, whether it’s in the genre (VIDEODROME), a Stephen King adaptation (THE DEAD ZONE), a remake (THE FLY), and more recently, hardcore thrillers (A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE).

While out promoting the DVD release of EASTERN PROMISES, he had a chance to chat with Wired magazine about his future film plans, as well as into the question we fans all want to know: will he ever return to making a true and blue horror film?

I wouldn’t ever rule out doing another sci-fi or horror film as a matter of course. If something came along that was intriguing and challenging, I wouldn’t hesitate.

So there’s hope! But don’t expect him to dive into the torture porn genre that seems to be ‘hot’ right now. He’s not into doing that shite. And good for him, too – his movies are generally f*cked up enough as it is, we don’t need to see how he’d take it to the next level (plus, torture porn is on it’s way out…).
