Following on the heels of thrillers with titles like The Girl on the Train and The Woman in the Window, we’re now getting a thriller titled The Girl at the Window, which is currently filming in Melbourne, Australia with Radha Mitchell (Silent Hill, Pitch Black) in the lead.

Described as “a blend of Rear Window and Disturbia” – which doesn’t seem necessary, since Disturbia was basically just a teen take on Rear WindowThe Girl at the Window is about

a mother and daughter dealing with an ambiguous threat that brings them closer together.

Mitchell is joined in the cast by Ella Newton (Harrow) and Vince Colosimo (Lantana).

Mark Hartley, director of the Patrick remake and the documentaries Not Quite Hollywood, Machete Maidens Unleashed!, and Electric Boogaloo: The Wild, Untold Story of Cannon Films, is at the helm of The Girl at the Window, working from a screenplay by Terence Hammond (Last Dance) and Nicolette Minster (The Legend of Burnout Barry).

The film is being produced by Blue Fox Entertainment and Antony I. Ginnane, with production investment from Film Victoria. Kismet will be releasing the film in Australia, and The Girl at the Window is expected to receive a worldwide release in mid-2022.

Ginnane had this to say about the project:

Audiences worldwide love thrillers, and our script is filled with twists and turns that will engage and excite. I’m looking forward to seeing Mark Hartley work with our terrific cast to bring this story to life.”

Hartley added:

It’s always great to be back on set – but especially so during these difficult times. The Girl at the Window boasts a strong, resourceful heroine and a bounty of exciting set pieces – it’s exactly the breed of film that I love. I’m extremely fortunate to be working with a supremely talented cast and many of my favourite crewmembers to bring this high-stakes cat-and-mouse thriller to life.”

Kismet’s Troy Lum expects The Girl at the Window will “captivate audiences and keep them guessing until the very last moment.”
