The Good Doctor will continue to solve medical cases at ABC. It has been announced that the network has renewed the popular medical series for a sixth season.

On The Good Doctor, Shaun Murphy is a young surgeon with autism and Savant syndrome that is recruited into the surgical unit of a prestigious hospital. The series stars Freddie Highmore, Hill Harper, Richard Schiff, Christina Chang, Fiona Gubelmann, Will Yun Lee, Paige Spara, Noah Galvin, and Bria Samone.

Per TVLine, The Good Doctor is still a solid ratings performer for ABC, pulling in a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demo and 4.58 million viewers, stable from 2020. According to the network, the drama is the No. 1 entertainment series in Monday’s 10:00 PM hour this season in both total viewers and the 18-49 demo rating. This season of The Good Doctor has also averaged 10.5 million total viewers and a 2.1 demo rating after 35 days of viewing across ABC’s linear and digital platforms.

The Good Doctor premiered in September of 2017 and virtually saved the 10:00 PM Monday night slot for ABC. The timeslot used to be problematic for the network but The Good Doctor has been a steady performer in that spot. The series is also a rare case of a show not shifting timeslots. The show has remained on that night since its premiere and it continues to thrive.
