The hunt evolves in new trailer for Shane Black’s The Predator

A new red band trailer for director Shane Black’s upcoming film THE PREDATOR, an “inventive sequel” to the 1987 sci-fi action classic PREDATOR, has arrived online (you can see the first trailer HERE and the extended TV spot HERE), and this is one of those trailers where it seems like it’s just a couple minute summary of a good portion of the film. THE PREDATOR will probably play out a lot like this trailer does… so it’s a good thing I’m liking what I’m seeing here. Even though I’m still not enthusiastic about the “Predator vs. Predator” stuff, just like I wasn’t enthusiastic about the idea when it was in PREDATORS. Why do they have to keep fighting each other?

Written by Black and his THE MONSTER SQUAD collaborator Fred Dekker, THE PREDATOR stars Boyd Holbrook, Yvonne Strahovski, Jacob Tremblay, Thomas Jane, Keegan-Michael Key, Trevante Rhodes, Alfie Allen, Augusto Aguilera, Olivia Munn, Sterling K. Brown, Edward James Olmos, and Jake Busey. Busey is playing the son of the character his father played in PREDATOR 2.

The synopsis:

From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black’s explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.

THE PREDATOR is set to be released on September 14th.
