Consider this a warning, David Fincher is at it again, folks. After delivering Mank to Netflix subscribers, Fincher is making an adaptation of Alexis Nolent's The Killer his next project. Based on Nolent's graphic novel series of the same name, Fincher plans to re-team with Seven screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker for the endeavor, which has Michael Fassbender in talks to star.

According to Goodreads, The Killer revolves around an elite assassin who suffers a psychological crisis as he attempts to remove himself from the political ramifications his killings have caused. A professional. A man of few scruples, nerves of steel, and a steady trigger finger, but also, a man on the verge of cracking. After misadventures in Central and South America and having earned enough money to retire comfortably, the Killer retires to Mexico, but his colleagues are still in need of his irreplaceable skills . . . and before long he’s drawn back into the great geopolitical game between Cuba, Venezuela, and the United States.

It's been 25 years since Fincher and Walker joined forces for Seven, a dark and twisted film that remains a cornerstone of pop culture to this very day. The thought of them teaming up for another excursion into a gritty crime noir should excite fans of the genre to no end, and worry those who found Seven to be the stuff of nightmares. Here's hoping that Fassbender officially joins the project soon so production can get underway.
