The Leaves for Summit

Don’t you just love the apocalypse… or armageddon, or judgement day, or whatever you want to call it? I’m talking about the end of the world baby! We’ve seen it at least a dozen times… yet we’re still here.

So that means we get to see it again! According to Variety, Summit Entertainment has just picked up the rights to bring graphic novel THE LEAVES to the big screen.

Why am I speaking about the end of the world in regards to something named after a plant on a tree? Well THE LEAVES is about a New York doctor who travels to Mumbai, India, for a friend’s funeral and meets an Indian fortune-teller who identifies him as the man who will bring about the apocalypse.

Man… that’s got to be some kind of stress. Imagine some weird-o fortune teller telling you your going to be the reason the world ends? I’d go pick up some booze… and hookers. Actually I’d probably do that regardless.

Anyway, THE LEAVES comes from Virgin Comics and was created by Kevin J. Walsh. Virgin Comics’ founder Gotham Chopra and Comics’ CEO Sharad Devarajan will be producing. Chopra had the following to say regarding THE LEAVES:

“Mining the great mysteries and mythologies of India and nurturing them into fresh films for the world to see has become what we’re known for at Virgin Comics.”

I’m digging the synopsis and I’m digging the novel’s cover (above), so THE LEAVES has my interest. We’ll keep you updated once we hear more.

This would make the apocalypse OK in my book
