Warner Bros. Discovery has been shuffling the release dates of their upcoming films – and even decided to give Evil Dead Rise, which has been planned as an HBO Max release, a theatrical release next April. By giving Evil Dead Rise that April date, they have bumped the Stephen King adaptation Salem’s Lot off their schedule. And while the Salem’s Lot release date is now To Be Determined, another Warner Bros. genre project has just been put on the schedule. The Conjuring Universe entry The Nun 2 is set to reach theatres on September 8, 2023.

Michael Chaves (The Curse of La LloronaThe Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It) is directing The Nun 2, which is expected to film in France from September through December. Producer James Wan confirmed that Bonnie Aarons will be reprising the role of the demonic nun she played in The Nun and The Conjuring 2. Scripted by Akela Cooper (Malignant), The Nun 2 has the following synopsis:

1956 – France. A priest is murdered. An evil is spreading. The sequel to the worldwide smash hit THE NUN follows SISTER IRENE as she once again comes face to face with the demonic force VALAK – THE DEMON NUN

The Nun was set in Romania in 1952 and starred Taissa Farmiga as Sister Irene. It hasn’t yet been confirmed that Farmiga will be back for The Nun 2, but she did say she had been contacted about it.

Back in May, Cast It Talent was looking to fill the following roles:

SOPHIE (10-12 years old) – Open Call
Character identifies as she/her, Caucasian. A shy, sweet 10-year-old student at St. Mary’s School, in France. Sophie’s sister MARCELLA, a more true mother figure, is a teacher at the school. Sophie is often tormented into tears by a group of mean girls. She forms a friendship with FRENCHIE, who works on the school grounds. He is seemingly Sophie’s only ally, apart from her sister. She can just about cope with the bullies at school… until she also becomes haunted by mysterious demons. We are looking for a child with a deep emotional intelligence and the ability to convey strong emotions. A light French Accent is required for the audition. LEAD ROLE.

ANTOINETTE (14-16 years old) – Open Call
Character identifies as she/her, Caucasian. A confident 14-year-old leader of a clique of burgeoning mean girls at St. Mary’s School, in France. Together with her friends, she torments the young SOPHIE and plays pranks on others at the school. A light French Accent is required for the audition. SUPPORTING ROLE.
