The Offer: Jordana Brewster, Scott Speedman, Laurence Fishburne star in thriller

Jordana Brewster, Scott Speedman, Laurence Fishurne, and Addison Timlin have signed on for Vaughn Stein’s thriller The Offer

Jordana Brewster (The Faculty, the Fast & Furious franchise), Scott Speedman (The Strangers, Crimes of the Future), Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix, John Wick: Chapter 2), and Addison Timlin (Like Me, Depraved) have signed on to star in The Offer, the latest thriller from Terminal and Inheritance director Vaughn Stein.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lionsgate has acquired the worldwide sales rights and will be presenting the project to potential buyers at the European Film Market this month.

Sam Scott wrote the initial screenplay for The Offer, which has since received revisions from Lori Evans Taylor, who recently wrote and directed the supernatural thriller Bed Rest (starring Melissa Barrera) and co-wrote the upcoming horror sequel Final Destination 6. The Offer follows a couple looking for a fresh start away from the city and finding out they are being gifted the house of their dreams. However, there’s one mysterious and unbreakable condition: they must never open the cellar door.

The title on Scott’s script was Cellar Door, which not only sounds fitting for the movie (based on the synopsis), but also sounds more interesting than The Offer – and not just because Drew Barrymore’s character in Donnie Darko talks about “cellar door” being the most beautiful combination of words. The Offer is so generic, we just had a mini-series (about the making of The Godfather) with that title last year. Of course, there have been other projects titled Cellar Door as well.

Vaughn Stein’s The Offer is being produced by Tom Butterfield, Craig Perry, Sheila Hanahan Taylor, and John Papsidera.

How does The Offer sound to you? Let us know by leaving a comment below. Honestly, I wasn’t a fan of Terminal or Inheritance, neither of those movies worked very well for me, but Stein has assembled such a solid cast for The Offer, I’m being lured in to give this one a chance. I definitely want to watch a thriller that stars Jordana Brewster, Scott Speedman, Laurence Fishburne, and Addison Timlin… and I’m really curious to find out what’s behind the cellar door in this story. So I’ll be watching The Offer. Will you?

Laurence Fishburne
