LUKE CAGE director Everardo Gout's new installment in THE PURGE series has just added Will Patton (SWAMP THING) and Cassidy Freeman (THE RIGHTEOUS GEMSTONES). They join a cast that already includes Ana de la Reguera and Tenoch Huerta.
While no character details were revealed regarding Patton and Freeman's roles in the upcoming movie, we have heard that – while plot details are under tight wraps – THE PURGE 5 will take the annual event out of its usual city-setting to deal with class and race issues in a new way.
I assume this means the plot will center around a group of 'minorities' trying to escape a big city during the purge only to be caught out in the rural areas of the country – probably stalked mainly by a redneck Will Patton and his wife. But I guess we'll have to wait and see.
This new entry is written by franchise creator James DeMonaco, who wrote and directed the first three films in the series. Jason Blum produces this new THE PURGE movie along with Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, Andrew Form, DeMonaco, and Sebastien K. Lemercier.
