The Purge season 2 adds four cast members, reveals character details

THE PURGE franchise creator James DeMonaco is currently working on another PURGE film, which is scheduled to reach theatres on July 10, 2020 and sounds like it's intended to be the end of the franchise… But before we get there, we're going to see a second season of The Purge TV series on USA Network.

Based on the movie franchise, the series revolves around a 12-hour period when all crime, including murder, is legal. Set in an altered America ruled by a totalitarian political party, Season 1 followed several seemingly unrelated characters living in a small city. As the clock winds down, they are forced to reckon with their past as they discover how far they will go to survive the night.

Four cast members have been announced for the second season of The Purge, and with the names of the actors comes details on the characters they'll be playing.

Derek Luke, whose credits include ANTWONE FISHER, 13 Reasons Why, and CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER, will be playing Marcus Moore, 

an accomplished professional with a loving wife and a beautiful house whose seemingly perfect life is shattered when an assassin breaks into his house on Purge night.

Max Martini of PACIFIC RIM has signed on to play Ryan Grant: 

Unassuming yet laser-focused, Ryan spends his entire year precisely preparing for a massive once-a-year Purge heist with his long-time crew.

Best known for her work in Spanish-language productions, Paola Nuñez can currently be seen in the AMC series The Son, has a role in the upcoming BAD BOYS FOR LIFE, and will be playing a character named Esme Carmona on The Purge. 

A top employee at an NFFA surveillance center, Esme has dedicated her life to spotting crimes and digitally tagging lawbreakers.

A relative newcomer who recently had a role in the A24 comedy NEVER GOIN' BACK, Joel Allen has been cast in The Purge as a guy named Ben.

A clean-cut, fraternity member from a middle-class suburban family, Ben’s life changes forever when he goes out on Purge night for the first time.

Luke, Martini, Nuñez, and Allen all have "series regular" status this season.

A Blumhouse Television and UCP production, The Purge is executive produced by DeMonaco, Thomas Kelly, Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, Andrew Form, and Sebastien K. Lemercier.

I still need to catch up on the first season of The Purge, but I'm glad to hear there will be a second season to look forward to once I have.
