The Spore clip and trailer preview gruesome horror thriller from Lionsgate

Lionsgate has given writer/director D.M. Cunningham’s sci-fi horror thriller The Spore a Digital, On-Demand, and DVD release, and today we got our hands on both a clip from the film and the trailer. You can check them both out in the embed above, and if you like what you see you can head over to Amazon Prime and watch the full movie right now!

The Spore has the following synopsis:

Fleeing from civilization as a horrific plague ravages mankind. Meadow gets a lift from a stranger. When she sees that the driver is gruesomely infected, Meadow escapes and takes refuge in a cabin that’s abandoned… or is it? The apocalypse started days earlier when an evil spore, long-dormant beneath an ancient ice field, was awakened by global warming. Now, as ten strangers try to evade the madness, some must succumb to the hideously mutating fungus and claim the survivors as their bitter prey.

An alternative synopsis says the film centers on

the lives of 10 strangers and how they intersect as a mutating fungus begins to spread through a small town, wiping out everyone that comes into contact with it.

Jovonnah Nicholson, Zoe Cunningham, Justin Golinski, and Peter Tell star in The Spore alongside Haley Heslip (Camp Love), Brian Hillard (Kottentail), Jackson Ezinga (13 Demons), and Jeannie Jefferies – who appeared as a memorable zombie in George A. Romero‘s classic Dawn of the Dead.

The clip and trailer make The Spore look quite interesting to me. Although the movie features a cast member from Dawn of the Dead, the Romero movie the clips brings to my mind is Creepshow, specifically the segment The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill.
