The Thing pinball game coming next week as part of Zen Studios’ Pinball M

A pinball game inspired by John Carpenter’s The Thing will be part of the new game Pinball M, coming to consoles and PC next week

Zen Studios is bringing a horror-themed pinball game called Pinball M to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on November 30th – and our friends at Bloody Disgusting have confirmed that Pinball M is launching with a pinball game inspired by director John Carpenter’s 1982 classic The Thing (watch or buy it HERE)! A promo video can be seen at the bottom of this article.

Your objective with The Thing Pinball is to use your (digital) pinball skills and battle against the shape-shifting alien through the arctic chill of U.S. Outpost #31. The table covers quite a bit of ground from the film, including the initial dog kennel attack, Bennings’ discovery as The Thing and more. You’ll also be collecting blood samples and shooting “reagent cartridges” to reveal who’s human and who isn’t. The table culminates in rigging your dynamite to blow up the Outpost with The Thing in a “wild Wizard Mode”.

Zen Studios COO Mel Kirk had this to say: “The Thing Pinball is an authentic homage to the 1982 film, and features original clips from the film itself. It gives long-time horror fans a go-to table in Pinball M, and completes our extraordinary line-up for launch.

The Thing isn’t the only pinball game in Pinball M that’s based on a popular existing property. Other tables include the Child’s Play-inspired Chucky’s Killer Pinball, a table inspired by Behaviour Interactive’s Dead by Daylight, a Duke Nukem-inspired table called Duke Nukem’s Big Shot Pinball, and a table based on Zen Studios’ Lovecraft-inspired Wrath of the Elder Gods Director’s Cut.

Kirk added, “We are thrilled to bring this new pinball platform to our players with a killer lineup of new licensed tables. Over the years, there have been many mature themes that we’ve wanted to explore on our pinball tables. Pinball M allows Zen to fully embrace M-rated source material and create authentic pinball experiences based on our favorite horror and irreverent themes.
