The Unholy trailer: Jeffrey Dean Morgan investigates a demonic miracle

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Based upon James Herbert's best-selling novel Shrine, The Unholy stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Gerry Fenn, a disgraced journalist who is hoping to revive his career by investigating Alice, a young hearing-impaired girl who, after a supposed visitation from the Virgin Mary, is inexplicably able to hear, speak, and heal the sick. Word soon spreads and people from near and far flock to witness her miracles, but when terrifying events begin to happen all around, Gerry starts to question if these phenomena are the works of the Virgin Mary or something much more sinister. As one character says in the trailer, "when God builds a church, the Devil builds a chaple next door."

The Unholy was written and directed by Evan Spiliotopoulos, who also produced the film alongside Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert. In addition to Jeffrey Dean Morgan, the film also stars Katie Aselton, William Sadler, Cary Elwes, Diogo Morgado, Christine Adams, and more, and is slated to be released in theaters on April 2, 2021.
