The Warded Man TV series: Peter V. Brett’s sci-fi horror fantasy story is coming to television

Electromagnetic Productions, Remarkable Media, and Reality Distortion Field are teaming up to bring author Peter V. Brett’s five-part Demon Cycle novel series to television, developing a show that’s named after the first book in the series, The Warded Man. Deadline hears that the plan is to build a long-term franchise out of the novels, which are set

in a distant future where humanity is plagued by terrifying demons that emerge at night with supernatural powers and an all-consuming hatred of people. They are barely held at bay by the ancient and magical art of warding, where locals paint mysterious symbols on houses and posts. With the fate of humanity hanging by a thread, one man takes it further, tattooing his body with the lost battle wards to teach humanity how to fight back from the verge of extinction.

I haven’t read any Peter V. Brett novels, but that idea sounds pretty cool to me.

The Warded Man is being executive produced by Roger Birnbaum and Mark Kimsey of Electromagnetic Productions, Spike Seldin and Kearie Peak of Remarkable Media, and Simon Barry and Stephen Hegyes of Reality Distortion Field. Barry will also serve as showrunner on the series. (Seldin also produced The A-Team, which is why I stuck a video from that movie at the top of this article.) Michael Besman is co-producer.

JD Zeik is adapting the novel for the small screen. Zeik previously wrote the Robert De Niro movie Ronin and the Witchblade TV movie.

Have you read any of the novels in the Demon Cycle series? If so, how do you feel about The Warded Man being turned into a TV show? Let us know by leaving a comment below.

In addition to The Warded Man (which was also published under the title The Painted Man), the other books in the series are The Desert Spear, The Daylight War, The Skull Throne, and The Core.
