The White Lotus Season 3 is happening at HBO

The White Lotus Season 3, Mike White, HBO

Start packing your bags and sharpen your detective skills because The White Lotus Season 3 is afoot at HBO. Created by Mike White (School of RockYear of the Dog), the multi-award-winning anthology series features a rotating cast of Hollywood greats, with Jennifer Coolidge playing Tanya McQuoid-Hunt in the first two seasons. White, who wrote and directed both seasons, shot the first as a contained pandemic production. Still, unfortunate filming conditions failed to keep the show from receiving 20 Emmy nominations, winning ten.

Feeling like a murder mystery, the first season of The White Lotus starred Murray Bartlett, Connie Britton, Alexandra Daddario, Jake Lacy, Natasha Rothwell, Sydney Sweeney, Steve Zahn, Molly Shannon, Fred Hechinger, Brittany O’Grady, and Coolidge. The plot focuses on a group visiting the White Lotus resort in Maui, Hawaii. After bodies wash up on the beach, paranoia takes hold, and guests get strange.

In the second season, guests staying at the White Lotus in Taormina, Sicily, find their lives intertwined through intriguing events. The three-episode event stars F. Murray Abraham, Michael Imperioli, Aubrey Plaza, Will Sharpe, Theo James, Meghann Fahy, Adam DiMarco, Beatrice Granno, Jon Gries, Tom Hollander, Sabrina Impacciatore, Haley Lu Richardson, Simona Tabasco, Leo Woodall, and Coolidge reprising Tanya McQuoid-Hunt.

“There’s no place I’d rather work than HBO and there’s no people I’d rather partner with than Casey Bloys, Francesca Orsi, Nora Skinner and their incredible team. I feel so lucky to get this opportunity again and am excited to reunite with my amazingly talented collaborators on The White Lotus.” said White about continuing his partnership with HBO.

“Reflecting on The White Lotus’ humble, run-and-gun origin as a contained pandemic production, it’s impossible not to be awestruck by how Mike orchestrated one of the buzziest and most critically acclaimed shows. And yet, he’s only continued to reach new heights in season 2, which is the ultimate testament to Mike’s raw, unparalleled vision. His courage to explore the uncharted waters of the human psyche, paired with his signature irreverent humor and buoyant directing style, have us all dreaming of more vacation days at the resort we’ve come to adore. We couldn’t be more thrilled to get the chance to collaborate on a third season together,” commented Francesca Orsi, EVP, HBO Programming, Head of HBO Drama Series and Films.

I keep hearing amazing things about The White Lotus. The cast for both seasons is positively stacked, and who doesn’t enjoy Jennifer Coolidge? It’s been a while since I’ve checked in with Mike White, and I think I should give this series a shot. Are you excited about HBO’s announcement for The White Lotus Season 3?
