Netflix is betting big on Jamie Foxx these days, and why wouldn’t they? His two action movies for the service, Project Power and Day Shift, both did pretty well, and the guy is a tireless self-promoter, even serving as the host for this year’s Tudum event. As such, Netflix teased his upcoming movie, They Cloned Tyrone, which seems to be a pulpy sci-fi mash-up, and co-stars John Boyega and Teyonah Parris. Check out the trailer above!

The movie, which is due out sometime in 2023, is the feature debut of director Juel Taylor. Famous as the writer for Creed 2 (and – well – Space Jam: A New Legacy), the film looks like a fun caper, with the trailer scored by one of the coolest funk songs ever – The Gap Band’s “You Dropped a Bomb on Me”.

Here’s the synopsis: A series of eerie events thrusts an unlikely trio (John Boyega, Teyonah Parris and Jamie Foxx) onto the trail of a nefarious government experiment in this pulpy mystery caper.

The trailer makes the movie look a little bit like a mash-up of Black Dynamite and the recent Sorry to Bother You. The costumes and style choices are pretty out there, so here’s hoping Taylor’s pulled off a cool, unconventional little sci-fi/action/comedy film.
