They Will Kill You Interviews: Heather Graham and Myha’la on their gory roles

Yesterday, I was able to share my interviews with Zazie Beetz and Patricia Arquette from SXSW, where I attended the premiere of their new horror flick, They Will Kill You. Produced by Andy and Barbara Muschietti, and directed by Kirill Sokolov, it’s a gore-packed action/horror hybrid with lots of groovy kills and practical effects. It could be the next horror sleeper for WB/New Line, which has been on a charmed run recently with WeaponsFinal Destination: Bloodlines, and The Conjuring: Last Rites.

While in Austin, I also got to sit down with the great Heather Graham and rising star Myha’la. Graham plays against type as one of the movie’s villains, a wealthy socialite named Sharon who is among those trying to hunt down Beetz’s Asia Reeves. It’s a gory role for Graham, with her character suffering some of the movie’s most gruesome wounds, making it another solid horror turn for the actress, who’s been taking on more great genre roles in recent years (such as the well-received Suitable Flesh).

Meanwhile, Myha’la, who’s currently on HBO’s hit series Industry, revealed to us that she’s notoriously squeamish when it comes to horror, but that she had a great time making the movie. She plays a potentially duplicitous chambermaid named Maria who has a connection to Asia. The two also revealed that they hope They Will Kill You turns into a franchise, as both are keen on potentially continuing on if it becomes a series.

Check out our interview, embedded above, and make sure to give They Will Kill You a watch when it comes out on Friday! It’s a solid little action-horror flick (read my review), and a gory good time. We’ll be back tomorrow with interviews with Andy and Barbara Muschietti, as well as director Kirill Sokolov.
