Ti West’s new film The Side Effect scores Liv Tyler to star

JoBloJoBlo

LivTylerPoutTi West is one pretty cool dude, having brought genre lovers THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL with THE INKEEPERS coming up. The former is a very worthy expenditure of time and masters the tone it shoots for rather perfectly, while the latter looks to continue that trend.

And now a synopsis for his next film THE SIDE EFFECT has been released which reads as follows: Liv Tyler (LOTR, THE INCREDIBLE HULK) “will play Catherine Rigby, a woman who spends several months alone in space as an experimental subject for a global pharmaceutical company, and finds herself inexplicably pregnant. Paranoia and hysteria reign as the truth behind conception grows more elusive and she remains stranded in space.”

I caught THE STRANGERS recently and a large part of my interest both in wanting to see it and then sitting through it was the strength and life in Tyler’s performance.  Says West of his new film: “Although it is still somewhat of a horror film, it is much more psychological than any of my previous efforts… It was essential that I find an actress who could portray a wide range of emotion and always earn the audience’s sympathy no matter what the situation. As soon as I sat down with Liv, it was obvious she was the one.”
