Tig Notaro to replace Chris D’Elia in Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead!

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

THR reports that actor/comedian Chris D'Elia has been dropped from Netflix's upcoming zombie-action film ARMY OF THE DEAD from director Zack Snyder due to sexual harassment allegations involving underage girls. He will be replaced by fellow comedian Tig Notaro (STAR TREK: DISCOVERY), which honestly seems like a major step up. Anyway, here's the official synopsis:

A zombie plague hits Vegas, and they’re able to contain the virus to the city – they build a wall out of shipping containers. And then the city falls. And six years later, one of the casino owners hires this group of zombie soldiers to go get his money that he left in a safe in the casino.

Meanwhile, the THR article explains how they'll accomplish the reshoots, stating

[the film] will now undergo a quick round of reshoots to incorporate Notaro’s role…Due to actors being already dispersed post-filming and due to pandemic restrictions, the incorporation will be a combination of techniques, from actually reshooting scenes opposite an acting partner to using green screen and CG technology to blend her in."

Meanwhile ARMY OF THE DEAD will be directed by Zack Snyder and also stars Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Ana De La Reguera, Theo Rossi, Huma Qureshi, Garret Dillahunt, Omari Hardwick, Hiroyuki Sanada, Raúl Castillo, Nora Arnezeder, Matthias Schweighöfer, Samantha Win and Rich Cetrone. No official release date as of yet, but we'll keep you posted.
