As Titus Welliver has appeared in every film Ben Affleck has directed (GONE BABY GONE, THE TOWN, and ARGO), it wasn't a matter of whether Welliver would turn up once again in LIVE BY NIGHT, but simply a matter of whom he would be playing. Thankfully The Wrap has gotten the scoop on just who Titus Welliver will play in LIVE BY NIGHT and it seems possible that this may be his biggest role in a Ben Affleck film yet.
LIVE BY NIGHT has been adapted from the Dennis Lehane novel of the same name and follows Joe Coughlin (Ben Affleck), the youngest son of a prominent Boston police captain who defies his proper upbringing by climbing the ladder or organized crime and encountering a number of dangerous individuals who are all fighting for their piece of the American dream. Titus Welliver will be playing Tim Hickey, the boss of the gang Joe joins up with who also serves as a mentor to the younger man. Welliver has been a favourite of mine ever since I first saw him in an early X-Files episode years ago and the man has gone on to grace shows like Deadwood, Lost, and Sons of Anarchy will his presence.
Ben Affleck's latest directorial project has already gathered up quite the cast, which includes Sienna Miller, Scott Eastwood, Chris Messina, Zoe Saldana, Elle Fanning, Brendan Gleeson, Chris Cooper, Max Casella, and Anthony Michael Hall. Production on LIVE BY NIGHT is already underway and Warner Bros. will release the film sometime in 2017.
